Instructions
  1. Mix the refried beans and salsa in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Using the display panel select the SAUTE function. Add ground beef and taco seasoning to the Instant Pot. Cook and stir until no pink remains.
  3. Drain the liquids, transfer browned meat to a shallow dish and cover loosely with foil.
  4. Rinse out the pot and pour in 1 1/2 cups water, followed by the trivet. Coat the inside of a 7 inch x 3 inch springform or push pan with non-stick spray.
  5. Layer evenly: - First tortilla, 1 cup refried beans, 1 cup meat, enchilada sauce, 1 cup cheese - Second tortilla, 1/2 cup beans, 1 cup meat, 1/2 cup cheese - Third tortilla, 1/2 cup beans, 1 cup meat, 1/2 cup cheese - Fourth tortilla, press in place (reserve final 1/2 cup cheese), cover loosely with foil.
  6. Carefully lower the pan onto the trivet using a foil sling, then secure the lid, making sure the vent is closed.
  7. Using the display panel select the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK function*. Use the +/- keys and program the Instant Pot for 17 minutes.
  8. When the time is up, let the pressure naturally release for 10 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
  9. Carefully remove the pan, uncover, and top with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese. Set under the broiler for 4-6 minutes or until cheese browns to your preference.
  10. Cool for 5-10 minutes, gently loosen the edges with a spatula and remove sides of springform or push pan.
  11. Cut into wedges and serve warm.

All I wanted to do was print the Tex-Mex Taco Pie Recipe. Could you have made it any harder? I ended up with 6 pages of photos and only needed the recipe. Very unhappy with your site!!

It also doesn’t print correctly when I tried to copy/paste it to google docs.

    Useless.

I ended up using more ground beef and misread the layering and put too much enchilada sauce, but it was still tasty. A co-worker told me, “you can never have too much enchilada sauce”.
The only problem was the silicone springform pan from instant pot. It seemed to misshape while under the broiler. I’m not sure if the silicone is supposed to be subjected to that type of heat.

    Hi Susan,

Thank you for the feedback and we are sorry to hear you had difficulty printing.

The site allows you to simply print recipes using the blue print button, on the right hand side of the recipe right under the featured image. It only prints the recipe and doesn’t print the whole page with additional images.

Did you by chance use the print button of your browser? That would print the whole page you are viewing as you described.

Formatting issues may happened when attempting to copy and paste the complete recipe text to a google doc, as it was not designed for that purpose and why we include a print recipe option.

This was good but took a lot of steps and dishes. I have an equally good, similar recipe on allrecipes that takes fewer steps and fewer dishes.
