  • 1 apple peeled, cored, sliced
  • 4 tbsp butter unsalted, softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon grounded
  • 1 pinch salt
For the Cake
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 7 tbsp butter melted, not hot
  • 1 1/2 cup Water for the pot

Instructions
  1. Grease a 7-inch fluted aluminum cake pan.
  2. Mix ingredients for the base, except apple slices, in a bowl and spread evenly to the bottom of the pan.
  3. Place apples at the bottom of the pan side by side without any gaps.
  4. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a container. Set dry ingredients aside.
  5. Add water to the Inner Pot of the Instant pot. Place steam rack in the inner pot.
  6. In a large mixing bowl prepare the liquid mixture starting with whipping egg and sugar very well.
  7. Add vanilla extract, butter and milk to the egg mixture and continue to whip.
  8. Sift dry ingredients into the liquid mixture and mix well to form a nice batter.
  9. Pour the cake batter on top of the apple slices evenly. Cover the pan with aluminum foil.
  10. Place the pan on the steam rack. Secure the lid.
  11. Select BAKE-Pressure Level-High, set the time to 35 minutes, then press START. Turn off the Keep Warm function.
  12. When program ends, wait for the pressure to be released naturally.
  13. Remove the Pressure Cooking Lid. Take the cake out. Remove the aluminum foil and wait for the cake to cool down.
  14. Flip the cake to a large plate and enjoy your moisty, delicious apple cake.

Chef`s Tip: Steps 6-8 are important to add air to the ingredients which would help the cake to rise better.
