Instructions
  1. Start the Instant Pot in Sauté mode, heat it and then add oil. Heating the pot first helps later, so the veggies don't stick to the bottom. Then add cumin seeds, garlic and green chili.
  2. When the cumin seeds start to splutter, add chopped green beans and potatoes. Add spices except dry mango powder and mix properly. Sprinkle water with your hand.
  3. Close the instant pot lid, and change setting to manual mode for 2 minutes. When the instant pot beeps, let the pressure release naturally.
  4. Mix in the dry mango powder or lemon juice. If there is any water, change the setting to saute mode and get it to your desired consistency. Aloo Beans are ready to be served with roti or naan.
Recipe Notes

If you like firm beans, do a 5 minute NPR, which means release the pressure manually 5 minutes after the instant pot beeps.

Yummy! But make sure to add 3/4 cup of water before pressure cooking because the spices will stick to the bottom and burn without enough liquid. Will def make it again!

    Very tasty,
I didn’t have mango powder but 1/2 a small lemon worked great. I used Sweet Potato instead and that was fantastic!
I released pressure immediately bit still found the beans softer than I like. Next time I will either reduce the cooking time to zero or reduce the pressure to medium or low. I will continue to experiment because this dish really comes together well

Delicious. Needs 3/4 cup of water to prevent burning. Cooked 1 minute under pressure & manually let pressure off. Very tasty.

I saw the comment suggesting adding 3/4 cup water prior to pressire cooking. I did that, but found the dish to be too wet. Delicious though. Maybe add 1/3 cup water?

Really delicious! I reduced the garlic by half and added lemon juice at the end. Will definitely make this again.
