Instructions
  1. Set the Instant Pot to Sauté and melt the oil. Sauté the garlic for 2 to 3 minutes, then pour in 1/2 cup of filtered water.
  2. Add the bacon, cumin, red pepper, beef, garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, salt, black pepper, and tomatoes to the Instant Pot.
  3. Close the lid, set the pressure release to Sealing, and hit Cancel to stop the current program. Select Manual/Pressure Cook , set the Instant Pot to 35 minutes on high pressure, and let cook.

    Hi Mary,

You can turn off saute after adding the ingredients in step 2; right before switching to another program.

You are only able to switch cooking programs is by stopping the current program, this is done by selecting Cancel.

Great flavor, I added more salt after it was cooked just for our liking. However, I am not a fan of the texture. I like my chili to be chunky especially since we don’t use any beans for and lose that texture, and this is very thin, the way the ground beef cooked, and almost greasy. I am new to this so maybe there’s some tricks I don’t know yet. I would also add mushrooms next time as we are a shroom loving family! Thanks for sharing your recipes!!

Is frozen or thawed ground beef better to use or dows it matter? I used frozen and had to open it halfway to chop it up and be sure it sidnt stick to the bottom.

I used 90/10 beef so there wasnt a lot of extra grease. My friends on keto loved it and my husband who hates beans and onions finally has a chili recipe for him!

First time user, I have a question about the bacon , do you put it in the instant pot uncooked or cook the bacon first?
