• For a 3-quart cooker, use 1 cup water but halve the remaining ingredients.
• For an 8-quart cooker, you must use 2 cups water and increase the remaining ingredients by 50 percent—or simply increase the water to 2 cups (while keeping the stated amounts of the other ingredients).
• Serve the skewers with salsa verde, regular salsa, or even barbecue sauce for dipping.
• Make these skewers ahead of time. Cook them through step 4, then cool for a few minutes with the pot open. Use kitchen tongs to remove the trivet underneath them, then store the skewers (and meat) right in the steaming medium. Cool for 20 minutes, then remove the insert from the machine, cover the insert with plastic wrap, and store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Grill the skewers as extra minute or so to warm them up.

Really damn good
Made this without skewers for the family a couple weeks ago, was a huge hit. Making it again and again forever when I dont have the time for Texas Smoked Brisket!
Absolutely amazing! Easy recipe that comes out of the instant pot perfectly!!! A new family favorite!
These are very tasty and so tender!! I didn’t skewer mine! I will definitely use this recipe again!
This was not a family favorite.
So flavorful! Great entree.
I was able to find 8″ stainless skewers on Amazon for about $8.00. They fit perfectly into my 6qt. pot. These skewers allowed for about 4 pieces of meat per skewer and had great flavor but where a tad dry.
Omg this is AMAZING! And easy! I put spices in a zip lock bag. I used cooking shears time cut the meat & put in bag and shook.
I followed recipe, with no skewers. Soooo good. Fast prep except cutting raw meat (using disposable gloves) was time consuming. I stopped there and just had to throw it in the Instant pot 90 minutes before dinner time. I used a grill pan to brown, but next time will just broil on a foiled baking sheet which is faster. I will definitely make again!
Nice, thank you for the recipe. I use this silicone trivet with heat-resistant handles and it’s so much better than the metal trivet that came with the instant pot. I got it on Amazon: https://amzn.to/35LvU9n
